On the morning of December 13, Sir Bob Cryan, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, and Honorary President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), visited our college. He was warmly welcomed by President Li Lin, who accompanied the delegation on a campus tour.
During the meeting, Li Lin extended a sincere welcome to Sir Bob Cryan and his team, introducing the history, academic strengths, and international achievements of the college, particularly in the fields of hydraulic engineering and electric power engineering. He expressed hope that this visit would strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two institutions, fostering cooperation in talent cultivation, faculty exchanges, and research collaborations.
Bob Cryan, in his remarks, thanked the college for its warm hospitality and acknowledged its achievements. He introduced the University of Huddersfield’s history, academic disciplines, international education initiatives, and research accomplishments. He emphasized the university’s commitment to global education and innovation, highlighting the alignment in educational philosophies and talent development goals between the two institutions. He expressed optimism about establishing a long-term partnership and launching multi-level exchange programs.
During the open discussion, both sides engaged in in-depth conversations on topics such as student articulation programs, faculty development, and international teacher training. After the discussion, Li Lin and Bob Cryan exchanged institutional gifts as a token of appreciation and future collaboration.
The delegation also toured key training facilities, including the Schneider Electric Green Low-Carbon Technology Application Center, the CNC Training Base at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Comprehensive Power Technology Training Base, the Automotive Engineering Training Base, and the Phoenix Mountain Hydraulic Construction Training Site. Bob Cryan expressed keen interest in the institution’s advanced training facilities, green technology applications, and vocational education model, commending its achievements in industry-integrated education.
This visit has strengthened ties between our college and the University of Huddersfield, expanding international collaboration opportunities. Moving forward, both universities will work together to enhance education, talent development, and research cooperation, contributing to the cultivation of highly skilled professionals with global competencies.
