During the 2024 Year of the Dragon Chinese New Year celebrations, we organized a series of events to celebrate the lunar new year and promote traditional Chinese culture, fostering a deeper sense of identity and pride in Chinese culture among both domestic and international students and staff. The series of cultural activities for the new year included:
Traditional Chinese Culture Party
Successfully held at the "one-stop" student communities on both the Changgang and Lijian campuses, the Traditional Chinese Culture Party featured a traditional cultural atmosphere that attracted the on-site participation of more than 2,000 students. On the community plaza, several booths were set up displaying various game props and students dressed in Hanfu (traditional chinese clothing), creating an ancient ambiance for the party. Activities included Hanfu experiences, face painting, calligraphy, arrow throwing, storytelling, archery, and more than ten other traditional cultural activities, making students feel as if they had stepped into a folk scroll with an ancient charm. This party created a joyful and harmonious atmosphere on campus, enabling students to better experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture and enhancing their sense of identity and pride in it.
"Long-lasting Affection in Water and Electricity, Warming the Spring Festival" Traditional Chinese Culture Event
Organized by the Party Branch of the School of Economics and Management and the Party Branch of the Logistics Department, the "Long-lasting Affection in Water and Electricity, Warming the Spring Festival" event presented the beauty of life and the charm of traditional culture through activities such as "Labor Cultivates Beauty, Tradition Warms Hearts - Making Dumplings," "Warmth Always Accompanies - Painting Canvas Bags," "Flowers Bloom on Paper - Happy Paper-cutting," "Fun Scratch Art," and "Dumplings, Perfection, Togetherness - Eating Dumplings and Chatting About Family Matters." At the event, President Li Lin joined teachers, students, and international students in making dumplings, cutting windowpane paper, and chatting about family matters, which not only enhanced interactions between teachers and students but also allowed everyone to experience the profound heritage of traditional Chinese culture in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.
"Setting Sail on a New Journey, Striving to Write a New Chapter" Gala
We also held a grand "Setting Sail on a New Journey, Striving to Write a New Chapter" teacher-student gala at the end of the semester. An excerpt from the musical "Confucius" performed by international students, titled "Scroll Dance," added a rich cultural atmosphere to the gala, showcasing the extensive and profound aspects of Chinese culture. Such cultural exchanges not only enhanced domestic students' understanding of traditional Chinese culture but also allowed international students from around the world to deeply experience the unique charm of Chinese culture.
Spring Festival Comfort Visits
During the Spring Festival, Deputy President Liu Cunxiang led teachers from the Foreign Exchange Center to visit international student dormitories, conveying warmth and care through activities such as posting Spring Festival couplets and hanging decorations. These activities not only allowed international students to feel the charm of traditional Chinese New Year but also demonstrated the warmth of the our big family, strengthening the emotional connection between international students and the us.
Through these new year cultural activities, we not only created a joyful and harmonious festival atmosphere and enriched campus cultural life but also deepened the sense of identity and pride in traditional Chinese culture among teachers and students. The successful holding of these activities not only demonstrated our college's active efforts and significant achievements in inheriting and promoting traditional Chinese culture but also provided a platform for teachers and students to showcase themselves and learn from each other, promoting cultural exchanges both inside and outside the college and enhancing the influence of college culture. In the future, we will continue to devote ourselves to organizing colorful traditional cultural activities, contributing to the inheritance and vigorous development of traditional Chinese culture, and enhancing students' cultural confidence and promoting international cultural exchanges. We firmly believe that through continuous efforts and exploration, our college can continue to play an important role in inheriting and promoting traditional Chinese culture, allowing more international students to understand and appreciate Chinese culture, become promoters and ambassadors of Chinese culture, and make greater contributions to cultivating a new generation with a sense of cultural identity and pride.
