To promote cultural exchanges among countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen mutual understanding and trust among young people from various nations, enhance the sense of innovation and practical ability of college students, and showcase innovative and practical achievements, the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in collaboration with Beibu Gulf University and Guangxi Normal University, organized the 5th Guangxi Universities Student "International Maker Marathon" in 2024. The event was held from March 15th to 16th at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute Roadshow Hall of Beibu Gulf University, attracting 161 international faculty and students from 15 teams and 61 universities across the region. Representatives from our university, including both domestic students and international students, formed a team to participate.
The theme of this year's Maker Marathon was "Talent Cultivation in International Humanities Exchange for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Along the Belt and Road." Our university's entry, titled "Curry Snail Dried Noodles and Tom Yum Beef Snail Noodles," was presented by Wu Lihua, a 2022-grade student majoring in Power System Automation Technology from the School of Electric Power Engineering. The combination of ASEAN and Guangxi culinary specialties was well-received by faculty and students alike. After rounds of rigorous evaluation and fierce competition, our university's team won the second prize at the event.
Through this event, our university actively explored a model for cross-cultural innovation and entrepreneurship talent development during the team collaboration process. We aim to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents with a global perspective, critical thinking, innovation and entrepreneurship awareness, cross-cultural communication skills, and a sense of patriotism, thereby promoting high-quality development at our institution.
