"Chinese and Cambodian Colleges Host 'Virtual Skills Competition'"

On the morning of December 21, 2023, Guangxi Vocational College of Water Resources and Electric Power and  Prek Leap National Institute of Agriculture jointly organized a "Virtual Skills Competition" focused on the installation and operation of irrigation units. Attendees included Director Li Changni of the Foreign Exchange Center, Dean Yu Jinfeng of the School of Hydraulic Engineering, Dr. Sovatna Phon, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology, and Agricultural Engineering at Prek Leap National Institute of Agriculture, and Mr. Samon Tith from the Planning and International Relations Office. Over 100 teachers and students from both institutions participated in the event through a combination of online and offline methods.

Dean Yu Jinfeng and Dr. Sovatna Phon delivered speeches during the exchange, introducing the basic situations of their respective institutions and expressing high expectations for the event, while wishing it great success.

Subsequently, students from both schools engaged in live online operations focusing on the "installation and operation of irrigation units." Meanwhile, professional teachers from both sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics of common interest, such as establishing a skills practice exchange platform, the construction of the China-Cambodia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Green Energy, and skill standards. After completing the project operations, professional leaders from both sides evaluated the students' works based on operating procedures, wiring requirements, and international standards.

Finally, Director Li Changni, Dean Yu Jinfeng and Dr. Sovatna Phon delivered concluding remarks. Both sides expressed that the positive skill exchanges and interactions between teachers and students from the two schools were very effective, demonstrating the alignment of vocational education standards between China and Cambodia. The event was highly enlightening for both teachers and students. Both sides expressed their hope for future exchanges and cooperation in broader areas.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia, with a long history of friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the two countries. The China-Cambodia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Green Energy, jointly established by Guangxi Vocational College of Water Resources and Electric Power and Prek Leap National Institute of Agriculture, has been officially inaugurated. This "Virtual Skills Competition" is an important part of the cooperation between the two schools in building the China-Cambodia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Green Energy, providing a platform for teachers and students to engage in skill contests, professional exchanges, and sharing of teaching experiences. It has broadened the international horizons of teachers and students, inspired students to master vocational skills proficiently, deepened vocational education exchanges between the two countries on an equal and friendly basis, and laid the foundation for further cooperation between the two sides.
