On November 21, the 2024 World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference, themed "Innovation Empowers the Future, Skills Shape Lives," opened in Tianjin. Over 1,200 government officials, diplomatic envoys in China, representatives from international organizations, and academic institutions from more than 100 countries and regions attended the conference.
During the conference, our representatives met with our school's partners, including Prek Leap National Institute of Agriculture in Cambodia, Pakpasak Technical College in Laos, and Mahasarakham University in Thailand. He also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Prek Leap National Institute of Agriculture on enrolling students for academic programs at the Craftsmanship Institute. Our college reviewed the achievements made by the school in enhancing its international presence in recent years and expressed gratitude for the support provided by overseas partner institutions. He emphasized the hope that, through joint efforts, the existing cooperation results could be continuously consolidated, and the level of vocational education development could be jointly enhanced, to continue making more beneficial contributions to cultivating international technical talents and serving local economic development and friendly exchanges between countries.
The conference included sessions such as the opening ceremony, keynote speeches, a ministerial roundtable, parallel sessions, and a closing ceremony. Among them, the ministerial roundtable was attended by heads of education or related departments from 32 countries, who discussed and adopted the "Tianjin Consensus on the Development of World Vocational and Technical Education – Declaration of Ministers from 32 Countries," outlining the vision for the development of world vocational and technical education. The parallel sessions focused on exchanges and discussions on topics such as promoting high-quality development of vocational education through industry-education integration, vocational education promoting global sustainable development, global strategies and practices for cultivating highly skilled talents, practical innovations in the professional development of vocational education teachers, the integrated development of vocational education and lifelong learning, and the construction of a quality assurance system for vocational education.
It is reported that the World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference is held every two years, with the inaugural conference taking place in Tianjin in 2022. This conference was the first offline world vocational education conference held after the global pandemic, and for the first time, the number of foreign guests exceeded that of domestic guests, demonstrating China's influence and mobilization capabilities in the field of world vocational education.
